Pop art, beginning in the 1950's, reinterpreted commercial mediums as a form of artistic expression. Taking techniques and methods from advertising, comics, and packaging to inform graphic choices across mediums, artists pushed these mass market methods to extremes. The lingering impact of the movement is felt still in fine art, graphic design, and fashion, too.
